Governor Tater Tot Reeves

This portrait renders the Governor of Mississippi as a character from the animated series Bob’s Burgers, a visual choice Allen makes deliberately and without apology. The Governor has earned the popular nickname “Tater Tot” through a pattern of bewildering policies shared with apparent confidence across his social media platforms, and Allen found the cartoon format the most honest way to render him. Serving his second term, he raises a question Allen leaves open for the viewer: what does it say about a state when a figure widely regarded as cartoonish continues to hold its highest office, and whether that pattern helps explain why Mississippi remains so far behind in so many measurable categories. It is a satirical portrait with serious intent.
